What you need to know about the bill to defund Planned Parenthood

Comments Off on What you need to know about the bill to defund Planned Parenthood

us-senate-buildingIt really should be called the Women’s Affordable Healthcare Act, for all it does is shift the yearly half-billion dollars of taxpayers’ money from the 700 abortion-focused, largely urban Planned Parenthood facilities to the 9,100 rural and urban Community Health Centers which provide across-the-board medical care to poor patients regardless of age, gender, or medical issue, including dental care, immunizations, STD testing and treatment, pre- and post-partum pregnancy care, behavioral-health care, and pediatric care.

Planned Parenthood, despite its deceptive claims, typically refers women to other providers for non-abortion procedures such as mammograms, STD treatment, etc. Where does Planned Parenthood refer these women? To the Community Health Centers.

The bill is very short, and you can read it hereYou can read why Democrats for Life support the bill here.
