Cutting through crime statistics.
Here is a very interesting video on crime statistics and their use by politicians and media in the current frenzy over gun control. The video compares violent crime 30 years ago with violent crime today, violent crime nationally with violent crime in major metropolitan areas, and violent crime in the US with violent crime in the UK. The results are eye opening, and one wonders why they don’t come up front and center in the current debate.
The one question I have on these statistics is whether the definition of “violent crime” is the same in the UK as it is in the US?
