Sabbath prayer

Comments Off on Sabbath prayer

We praise you, O God our Father, for you have inclined your heart to us; you have brought us up out of the pit, out of the miry clay, and set our feet on the Rock, even Christ.  You have established our steps.  You have put a new song in our mouths, a song of praise to You and the Son and the Spirit.  May many hear, O LORD, and turn to you in awe and trust.  How blessed is the man whose trust is in you, who does not respect the proud and deceitful.  Many, O LORD, are your wonderful works and your kind intentions toward us – more than we can count.  Supremely in the gift of your Son we see your love and faithfulness.  The blood of bulls and goats could never take away sin.  But you prepared a body for your Son, and he became one of us in every way save for sin.  And he gave himself for us according to your will on the cross.  And through him our sins are taken away forever.  So we will proclaim the good news of your love and faithfulness.  We will not hide your salvation in our hearts, but we will speak, and we will sing aloud of your lovingkindness and your truth.  Sustain us now, O LORD, by your tender mercies, that we might be to the praise of the glory of your grace.  For we worship you now, together with the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, who live and reign with you above, world without end.  Amen.

(Based on Psalm 40.1-11; Mat 7.24-25; Heb 2.14, 17; 10.4-10.)
