What is Crisis and the Church about?  We’ll tell you . . .

Our national life has been dominated by crisis for a decade.  The 9/11 national security crisis continues unabated, only to be joined now by the global financial crisis.  These seismic events effect Christians as much as anyone.  But though we are in the soup, Jesus said we must not be of it (Jn 17.11, 15-16).  That means, among other things, that we should not react to these crises like the rest of society.  How should we react?  That question depends on some others: Is anyone in control of this out-of-control world?  Is Christ?  If Christ is in control, why is He allowing things to be so out-of-control?  And what is our role as Christians?  Are we just voters who pray?  What should we pray for – that Jesus would turn the clock back to the 1950′s?  And what should mark us off as Christians inasmuch as we don’t glow in the dark?  How do we display the presence and power of the reigning Christ in this increasingly chaotic and anti-Christian world?   Answering those questions is what this conference is about.
